7 Reasons to practice Spay/Neuter!

- Shelters are full of dogs & cats, who's life is depending on finding a forever home. Take a tour of your local humane society, and see for yourself. Many of these animals are not there by their own faults! Even great natured & healthy animals are euthanized, due to lack of space.

- Unknowledgeable breeding adds to the overpopulation of cats & dogs. Right now, there's just not enough good homes available for all the animals who need them.

- Neutering your animal does NOT take away from his 'manhood'. They will not be any less protective of their home, either. It'll actually help him to focus!

- Spaying/neutering lessens the chance of certain cancers & diseases. Lessens the chance of them 'roaming', as well.

- Altering your pet will NOT make them fat. Keeping them properly exercised and feeding them the recommended amount of food will keep them in shape.

- Financial problems shouldn't keep you from altering your pets. Local shelters/rescues often provide low-cost, sometimes even FREE, spay/neuter programs to owners.

- It's the responsible thing to do.....and you know it!

 WHY THERE ARE ADOPTION FEES

Adoption fees are used for the dogs' and cat's well-being.  We spay or neuter and all required vaccinations are provided.  We rescue animals that require special attention.  For example, some dogs or cats require surgeries, dental work, or various routine medications like flea treatments and deworming medicines.  We also pay for any special ear or eye medications they may need, antibiotics and other veterinarian services as necessary to get them healthy for adoption.  Some will require professional bathing and grooming.  Adoption fees also help to pay the expenses of fostering them, including things like food, kitty litter and tags.  We help people without the means to get medical care of their sick animals.  No animal should be given away free.  It draws animal abusers and Class B dealers that sell dogs and cats to medical research institutions.  Gangs are always looking for Pit Bull bait and will use free or cheaply obtained dogs or cats for that purpose.  All these "adopters" can be very convincing about how they are going to give the animal the best of care and care for it forever.  Adoption fees screen out the people who cannot afford veterinary care.  If they cannot afford the fee chances are they cannot afford the vet care.  Adoption fees coupled with post-adoption welfare check-ins help ensure that rescued animals go to bona fide loving adopted homes.  We are all volunteers.  No one working for Animal Rescue Families makes money from the adoption fees.  For every animal that comes in spayed/neutered and in great condition there are several others whose actual veterinary cost will never be recovered in the adoption fees.  In addition to adoption fees, donations to animal rescue groups are always welcome.

A great garage sale in April!

We had great success with our first garage sale in 2008. Thanks to the people who donated items, and to the volunteers who helped. We promoted Rally To Rescue during the garage sale, and if you want more information on that, please visit:
www.rallytorescue.org

 Another successful Spay/Neuter event!

We issued out 110 certificates to get pets altered for free. Here are some pictures. (Jan 12-20, 2008)

9Lives Morris’ Million Cat Rescue
Port Orchard, WA

9 Lives had invited us to participate at the 10/20 event at the Fred Meyer parking lot, ARF brought many adoptable cats and kittens to the event and it was an enormous success. The 9 Lives Morris one million cat adoption Campaign made a generous donation to our Organization of $10,000. We are very grateful for this contribution to benefit our rescued pets and we thank 9 Lives for their compassion and caring toward our four legged friends.

TAX DEDUCTION IDEA!

If you have a running vehicle that you are considering trading in, please consider the tax advantages of donating it to Animal Rescue Families.  We are a non profit 501 (c) (3) organization and all donations to us are tax deductible.  Your vehicle donations to us, earn a deduction of the fair market value of the vehicle, which is usually higher than a trade in.  Most important of all, the sale of the vehicle will generate much needed money for our organization and animals. The IRS does require ARF to sell the vehicle and then fill out the tax deductible slip for the sold price.
